Service Contracts
Light & Life Urban Ministries is available to bring programming to other apartment communities not currently served. Understandably, there are costs involved in opening and operating new sites. The primary method used to offset these program costs are Service Contracts. These contracts can be structured in a variety of ways, but contain essential funding structures (cost per door), program facilities, and, sometimes, housing for program staff. These contracts are typically viewed by management and ownership as sound business investments which improve marketability and quality of their assets. Click here for more information
Community Sponsorships
Programming to apartment communities can also be provided through Community Sponsorships. If the apartment community can provide program facilities, and, possibly, housing for program staff, program funding can be offset by individuals or groups sponsoring a certain number of doors, or the entire community. This can be viewed in the same way as mission/church-planting efforts very often sponsor individuals, projects, or villages. Click here for more information
Church Partnerships
The same as mission-giving, churches can partner with Light & Life Urban Ministries to support their efforts. These partnerships are seen as essential extensions of the Church and its ministries. The goal of these partnerships is not just for financial support, but engagement in the mission by either direct or indirect involvement. Click here for more information
Staff Sponsorship
Light & Life Urban Ministries attempts to staff all positions through either volunteerism or self-supporting staff. Those self-supporting staff’s wages are based upon industry standards and experience, and raised through natural relationships or sponsorship. Many times relational linkages are limited, so Staff Sponsorship is an essential vehicle for support. Sponsorships in $100 monthly support increments are encouraged, but one-time lump-sum support is also appreciated. Click here for more information
Intern Sponsorship
As with Staff, Interns are expected to raise or pay for the cost of their internship program and living expenses. This not only offsets the costs of the program, but instills a funding philosophy and expectation in those who would respond to urban ministry as their calling. Many times this can be difficult for those be called from within the urban settings ministered to, so Intern Sponsorship can create opportunity that may not naturally exist. Americorp Sponsorship
Light & Life Urban Ministries has a partnership with the Americorp program which allows LLUM to receive Americorp volunteers for program staff. This critical resource provides part-time staff (avg. 15 hours per week) at a fraction of the normal related cost. Typically, one Americorp volunteer cost LLUM approximately $2,000 per year. Americorp Sponsorships are encouraged in one-time lump-sum amounts, but monthly support of $167 is also acceptable. Click here for more information
Camp/Retreat Scholarships
Throughout the year, Light & Life Urban Ministries takes numerous children and teens to various camps and retreats. Because LLUM operates in high-poverty areas, the costs of these camps and retreats must be mitigated or eliminated through the generosity of the camps or individual scholarships supplied by donors. Without this generosity, this essential part of our programming could not take place. Click here for more information
